SSP Offers Support to the Ukrainian Publishing Community

We are pleased to announce our partnership with Supporting Ukrainian Publishing Resilience and Recovery (SUPRR). SUPRR is a bottom-up initiative designed to help strengthen the Ukrainian publishing sector in order to meet the educational, academic, and cultural needs of Ukrainians. Through creating global connections, SUPRR aims to showcase Ukraine to international readers.

As part of this partnership, SSP will provide the following resources to the scholarly publishing community in Ukraine free of charge:

  • Access to all of SSP’s OnDemand Library content
  • Virtual access to SSP’s Webinars and Seminars (including the upcoming New Directions seminar)
  • Virtual access to SSP’s Training Programs (including the new Journals Academy)

In addition, The Scholarly Kitchen will feature guest posts from Ukrainian publishers about the state of scholarly publishing in Ukraine, current challenges, and the future they envision. The first post will be from Ganna Kharlamova, head of the Publishing Coordination Center at Taras Shevchenko National University in Kyiv.

SUPRR is supported by the De Gruyter eBound Foundation and is based at the Central European University Press in Budapest and Vienna. It has brought together various publishing industry trade organizations to support the work conducted under the SUPRR banner. SSP’s Board of Directors enthusiastically supports this partnership as a way to further SSP’s goal for increased global engagement. For more information on how to access these resources, please email info@sspnet.org.

About the Society for Scholarly Publishing The Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP), founded in 1978, is a nonprofit organization formed to promote and advance communication among all sectors of the scholarly publication community through networking, information dissemination, and facilitation of new developments in the field. SSP members represent all aspects of scholarly publishing—including publishers, printers, e-products developers, technical service providers, librarians, and editors. SSP members come from a wide range of large and small commercial and nonprofit organizations. They meet at SSP’s annual meetings, educational seminars, and regional events to hear the latest trends from respected colleagues and discuss common and mutual (and sometimes divergent) goals and viewpoints.
