The American Council of Learned Societies is pleased to announce the launch of the ACLS Open Access Book Prize and Arcadia Open Access Publishing Award, supported by Arcadia—a charitable fund of Lisbet Rausing and Peter Baldwin.
These prizes, among the largest for scholarly books, recognize excellence in humanities scholarship published as immediate open access. Authors will receive the $20,000 ACLS Open Access Book Prize, and publishers of the winning titles will receive the $30,000 Arcadia Open Access Publishing Award to support forthcoming books that would not otherwise be published open access. In the initial competition, publishers may submit entries in two categories for open access monographs published from 2017 through 2022: (1) history and (2) multimodal, born-digital works. See full competition details for more information.
Submissions are due September 1, 2023.
