October 5, 2022 – The Scholarly Kitchen and the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) are proud to announce a collaboration with Cactus Communications (CACTUS), a science communications and technology company to create a collection of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean language translations for popular Scholarly Kitchen posts.
CACTUS solves problems for researchers, universities, publishers, academic societies, and life science organizations through innovative products and services developed under the brands Editage, Cactus Life Sciences, Researcher.Life, Impact Science, PaperPal and Cactus Labs.
In 2021, TSK reached over 100,000 readers based in Asia and over 20,000 readers used a browser-based translation into Chinese. “China, Japan, and Korea all contribute enormously to global research and researchers and librarians in these countries are important stakeholders in scholarly communication. We’re thrilled to be able to better support these regions,” notes Scholarly Kitchen Executive Editor David Crotty.
Donald Samulack, PhD, Head, Global Stakeholder Engagement for Cactus Communications adds, “It is our pleasure to support the Society for Scholarly Publishing, The Scholarly Kitchen, and the whole of the academic and publishing communities by collaborating with our peers to make their thoughts widely accessible, through various language translations, to an extended readership around the world. It is through such language equity and greater access to informed scholarly opinion, worldwide, that best publishing practices will evolve and flourish.”

About the Society for Scholarly Publishing The Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP), founded in 1978, is a nonprofit organization formed to promote and advance communication among all sectors of the scholarly publication community through networking, information dissemination, and facilitation of new developments in the field. SSP members represent all aspects of scholarly publishing—including publishers, printers, e-products developers, technical service providers, librarians, and editors. SSP members come from a wide range of large and small commercial and nonprofit organizations. They meet at SSP’s annual meetings, educational seminars, and regional events to hear the latest trends from respected colleagues and discuss common and mutual (and sometimes divergent) goals and viewpoints.
