AAP's Professional and Scholarly Publishing Division is vocal in support of H.R. 6845, the Fair Copyright in Research Works Act. In the press release, the organization says it "welcomed the introduction of legislation to protect the rights of authors and publishers of copyrighted, peer-reviewed scientific journal articles." ASBMB simplifies NIH copyright cover letter agreement for its journal authors. "The National Institutes of Health (NIH) cover letter agreement, required for papers submitted by NIH employees, is now posted on all ASBMB journal websites. NIH-employed authors are not required to submit a copy to ASBMB journals. Instead, the text is automatically incorporated into ASBMB journal contracts with authors that are subject to NIH employee rules."
