Aptara, Inc., headquartered in Falls Church, Va., is a dynamic global publishing services company serving scholarly publishers with content solutions. We are seeking a top-flight Project Manager in our Falls Church office to coordinate production and editorial functions for scholarly books and journals. Ideal candidate has two to five years of solid editorial/production experience, skillful author/customer relations, strong editorial judgment, and good experience working with freelancers.

Understanding of discipline-specific editorial styles, bibliographic standards, and nomenclature preferred. Strong candidates will have an unerring sense for how to best guide multiple scholarly publications through the editorial/production process.

Responsibilities

·         Customer service to scholarly publishers

·         Full editorial oversight of publications, including coordinating and evaluating freelance copyediting, indexing, and proofreading

·         Production tracking, schedule building, and schedule compliance

·         Quality assurance to confirm editorial and compositional integrity of the publication

·         Resourceful and diplomatic author liaison
