Acquisitions Editor, Social Sciences

 The University Press of Florida is currently seeking an experienced editor to acquire projects in history, anthropology, archaeology, and regional studies. The press is the third largest university press in the southeast and maintains a solid financial position as well as strong support from the state university system and from its host campus, the University of Florida in Gainesville. Established originally by the Board of Regents as the official scholarly publishing arm of the state university system, the press currently publishes 110 new titles a year in selected fields. A successful candidate will communicate with authors to acquire 30-35 books each year and will participate in long-range planning, editorial board meeting preparation, and travel.  

Priority will be given to candidates with a demonstrated record of successful scholarly acquisitions, management, and list building skills. Minimum qualifications are a master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
